Companion for dementia patient in her own home
My husband and I are looking for someone to help with the care of his sister, who is a senior with mild to moderate dementia. We would like to find someone who could ease into the position slowly in order to determine if it’s a good fit, so initially it would be a once daily visit around 5 pm or thereabouts, with some chatting, checking if Jan has taken her meds (in a blister pack), and seeing to her kitty (food, water, litter box). Ideally, if it’s a good fit, it could include making and sharing a light meal for Jan as well as some basic cleaning and tidying and seeing to the garbage and recycling. It would also be great if you could do some shopping errands for her and possibly take her to appointments. This position would gradually expand into more hours per week as her dementia progresses. An older caregiver (50s and up) would suit Jan best, as she would relate to them more easily. We live in Langford. If this sounds like it might work for you, please let me know a good time to call you.
