*Please note that as job requires working on Sundays and applicant must have PSW certification* We are seeking a compassionate and patient Personal Support Worker (PSW) to assist with the care of an elderly gentleman who has dementia and physical mobility challenges. This position requires someone with an understanding of dementia and how it impacts daily life, providing both physical and emotional support. Position Details: • Rate: $25/hour • Schedule: Sunday to Thursday (flexible on which weekdays), 4 hours per day (12:00 PM – 4:00 PM) • Location: The Briton House, located at Eglinton and Mount Pleasant, Toronto • Start Date: Immediate Responsibilities: • Assist with physical exercises and walking using a walker • Escort and walk with him in his wheelchair around the neighborhood • Help with personal hygiene and grooming • Assist with walking to and using the washroom, and cleaning after use • Read news and books aloud to him for mental stimulation • Engage in conversation to encourage cognitive activity • Encourage participation in building activities and games Requirements: • Experience working with elderly individuals, especially those with dementia • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude • Ability to provide both physical and emotional support • Two references are required • A criminal record check is needed • Must provide an invoice for services rendered • Understanding of dementia and how it affects daily activities This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about elder care, who is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for individuals living with dementia and mobility issues.
