Description
A gracious, petite woman is in need of personal support. and is now retired but in the past was a cafe Owner and Cook, House Parent, Community Facilitator, Executive Director and Advocate for Social Change. Currently, she is important to many in her roles as wife, mother, grandmother, friend and neighbour. Parkinson’s disease has robbed her of much of her mobility and speech but she continues to live with her husband near Yonge and Eglinton and does so with patience and perseverance.
A very reliable, gentle, and physically strong supporter with a caring and respectful approach is/are needed to:
• help with personal care
• help to exercise
• accompany for walks outside
• help with laundry and housekeeping
• do some preparation of special diet meals
• administer medication
A Few Notes
This supporter will be hired by the family as an independent contractor. As such, you are required to get your own insurance and we can provide information about that.
We recommend you travel by subway, but if you drive, expect parking costs.
You will be asked for a police reference check.
Qualifications
Personal Support Worker diploma or certificate or Nursing diploma or degree
or the equivalent knowledge and skills
Experience caring for elderly people with limited mobility.
Good physical strength and confidence in doing transfers
Good written and spoken communication skills.
Hours
This could be a full-time position, Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Weekend shifts are sometimes available.
Pay Rate
Mon - Friday, from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m., the pay is $32../hr
Mon - Friday, from 1 - 4 p.m. the pay is $20./hr
