We are seeking a dedicated Live-in Home Support Worker to assist with the care and upkeep of our 56-year-old brother who has cerebral palsy. Despite his age, he functions at the mental and physical capacity of a 12-month-old baby and requires comprehensive care. With a height of approximately 5ft and a weight of 100lbs, he requires assistance with all aspects of personal care and health. The responsibilities of this Full-Time position, with working hours ranging from 30-40 hours weekly, will entail not only caring for our brother but also managing the upkeep and cleanliness of the house. Your morning shift will be 5 hours long, followed by a 3-hour shift from late afternoon to early evening. Your daily routine will include feeding, medication administration, changing clothes, and diapers, bathing, and brushing teeth. Housekeeping duties such as laundry, bathroom cleaning, and vacuuming will also be part of the position. As the position requires working most weekends, flexibility is essential. This is not simply a companion role but does involve contributing to the cleanliness and upkeep of the household. An essential part of this post is having experience with or willingness to work with incontinence, as our brother does wear diapers. Noteworthy to mention, this is a live-in position. You will be provided with a private room equipped with an ensuite bath, and meals will also be included. There is no requirement for automobile use or a driver's license as part of this role. It's important this is a fit for both parties, hence we're offering a three-month trial period before making a final decision on sponsorship, if required. Please be prepared to provide a recent background check upon application and provide proof of experience. We insist that you refrain from applying if either of these elements is not available. 88 year old woman and 90 year old man living in a retirement residence with limited in-house psw care (medication support) now need more care: help with bathing, dressing, getting down to meals, participating in residence activities, having someone for company, going for walks (mother only; father is quite sick with congestive heart failure and has very swollen legs and feet--pretty much chair-ridden). Basically, it would be nice to have a regular person be with them for around 6 hours per day to ensure that they eat properly, can get around, do something fun each day, have a clean place, keep the fridge stocked with basics such as bread and milk. Hungarian an asset since they definitely feel more comfortable speaking in Hungarian. Father is very hard of hearing and needs to be prompted to put hearing aids in and ensure that they don't get lost. Short-term memory loss for father.
