As an individual in need of senior/health care assistance, I am presently seeking the support and companionship of a senior care based Personal Support Worker (PSW) to aid in home-based services. The ideal candidate will possess a temperament of sensitivity and dependability, embodying an empathetic nature. Key responsibilities within this role are centered around assistance with day-to-day personal hygiene tasks, such as bathing and grooming. Comfort care is also a critical element, especially the provision of light massages. Further, you would ensure the performance of regular mobility exercises and help with food planning, preparation, and meal assistance when needed. Housekeeping chores also form part of this role where you will tackle tasks such as laundry, cleaning, organization, and related errands. Above all, as a PSW, companionship and emotional support should be extended towards the client at all times, highlighting the importance of this humanitarian aspect. With regards to qualifications, a PSW certification is definitely desirable, albeit not a strict prerequisite if the candidate can demonstrate substantial experience and proficiency in caring for the elderly or individuals with disabilities. An essential component, regardless of your previous experience, will hinge on your communication skills and empathetic nature. Your capacity to operate autonomously while preserving a construct of dignity and respect towards the client's privacy is also a necessity. The position is full-time with working hours per week ranging between 20-30 hours. Work schedule required is during the morning, middle of day from Monday to Saturday. Preference will be given to candidates who can start from 24th June 2025. The requirement of a driver's license is not necessary nor is the use of an automobile. Reflecting the flexible nature of this role, I am open to considering candidates who prefer a live-in or live-out arrangement. In the end, you ensure that patient positioning, bed bath, bed pan, bathing assistance, dressing grooming assistance, toileting assistance, range of motion exercise, housekeeping, meal planning/preparation, errand services, and maintaining a clean bathroom form part of your key responsibilities. I have 2 elderly parents who require a kind, caring, experienced caregiver who can assist with the tasks of daily living. My parents live in a condominium in the Scarborough/ Guildwood area. I am looking for a caregiver who is available for 8 hours per day, 5 days per week (Monday to Friday). I am looking for is someone who: -Has an easy-going, calm nature, a good sense of humour, and is very warm & compassionate -Has a lot of work experience with clients experiencing dementia -Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism, patience, flexibility and great communication skills -Can work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently, and can take initiative to complete tasks that arise during the day -Is punctual, reliable, and lives within a reasonably close distance to my parent’s home My father is 89 years old and has advanced dementia. He is a gentle man, who sleeps a lot during the day. He requires assistance with toileting, bathing, medication, dressing, walking, exercising and other daily tasks of life. My mother is 88 years old and is in the very early stages of dementia. She is capable of all self-care, but her short-term memory is extremely limited. She requires assistance with medication, groceries, cooking, light housekeeping and keeping track of tasks/ appointments. A detailed list of tasks and other supports already in place will be provided to candidates at the time of an interview. I will require candidates to provide proof of documents listed in your profile, as well as phone numbers of references from previous employers at the time of an in-person interview. The position will be paying up to $25/ hr depending on the level of skill, and experience of the candidate.
