We are looking for a fun loving, caring, compassionate person to spend some time with my father. He could use a companion who is willing to provide some duties such as cooking, cleaning, physio therapy/massage, possible doctor visits, Mind Stimulating Activities, and general companionship. He is hard of hearing and becoming a bit forgetful. Light massage and physical therapy exercises including stretching would be beneficial as he likes to go for walks daily but he does seem to get stiff and sore which can limit his movement. We want him to be mobile and independent for as long as possible. First Aid and CPR Certified. We would like to start with three to four hours, two days a week, perhaps 3 moving forward.

The ideal candidate will have specialized experience in caring for patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). This position requires a valid driver's license, as well as the ability to lift, transfer, and/or adjust patients weighing 200lbs. Responsibilities: ALS Patient Care: Provide comprehensive care to ALS patients, including but not limited to: - Administering medications and treatments as prescribed. - Monitoring and managing symptoms and vital signs. - Assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, grooming, and feeding. - Implementing and managing respiratory support devices. - Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans. - Providing emotional support and counseling to patients and their families. Light Housekeeping Tasks: Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe environment for patients, including: - Cleaning and sanitizing patient areas and equipment. - Organizing and maintaining medical supplies and equipment. - Assisting with meal preparation and cleanup as needed. Requirements: - Valid license to practice as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in Canada. - Experience in caring for ALS patients is required. - Compassionate and patient demeanor with excellent communication skills. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. - Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. - Ability to lift, transfer, and/or adjust patients weighing up to 200lbs. Responsibilities involve looking after my mom in an LTC(the LTC has a team of PSWs and Nurses already to support you in this role) Feeding and bathing assistance primarily required but also to keep her company and help with anything else she might require.
