Retired veteran with stroke history getting knee surgery needing PSW & home support Ottawa West

I'm reaching out on behalf of my retired, veteran father who's in need of compassionate and reliable in-home care during the hours I'm at work. My father is a proud individual, having attained a degree in Biochemistry and having contributed to the field of medical research during his career. Recently, his mobility has been compromised due to impending knee surgery and a past acquired brain injury from an MVA in the 1960s. The surgery combined with a TIA last year has made his daily life activities a bit challenging. We are seeking to provide him with strong in-home support to help him navigate his day-to-day routine, maintain his privacy, and deal with his personal care needs. The position involves assisting with heavy patient lifts and transfers, dressing, toileting, range of motion exercise, housekeeping tasks like laundry, cleaning bathroom and dishwashing, grocery shopping, running errands, assisting with walking, planning recreational visits and trips, and escorting him to medical appointments. Ideally, the support times would revolve around his meals. Valuing punctuality derived from his military background, the care professional must be on time and dependable. A driver’s license is necessary for the role although the family can provide a car for use on the job. Our ideal caregiver should be comfortable with or have experience with managing the complications of strokes, arthritis, and incontinence. The work schedule required is part-time, less than 20 hours per week which includes mornings and evenings from Monday to Sunday with additional requirements on Wednesday afternoons. I am my father’s only local family member, and we are hopeful to have someone to commence as soon as possible. We can provide market rate compensation with the support of blue cross insurance through Veterans Affairs. Having had issues with services through the province in the past, we cherish finding the right fit for my dad - someone who can offer him the care and companionship he deserves without encroaching on his love for privacy.
