For clarity, this position requires that you live at the clients home for 5 full days per week. There may be some flexibility with the schedule. What we are looking for: Completion of a Personal Support Worker or Nursing program with some field experience or equivalent experience; Valid Driver’s License would be a strong asset; First Aid/CPR Certified; Valid Police Record Check will be required; Other languages would be a strong asset; Duties will include, but not limited to: Plan and prepare meals; Be a pleasant and supportive companion; Assist client in all activities of daily self care activities including but limited to bathing, grooming. Assist clients with transfers and exercises in a safe manner when required. Perform light housekeeping chores that the client is unable to perform including vacuuming, make beds, laundry, dusting, floor washing, cleaning the bathroom and the kitchen. Respond and collaborate positively to client’s constructive criticism and attend to client requests promptly; Anticipate client needs and customize care to meet client’s needs; Complete client progress notes accurately and carry out all tasks as requested. The preferred candidate will start immediately and work from Monday to Thursday, in the morning hours. This is a part-time position, requiring dedication for 20 - 30 hours per week. It does not require a driver’s license, therefore, applications from those who do not possess one are still very welcome. The responsibilities of the caregiver will primarily be to assist grandmother in her daily activities. This includes walking, bathing, dressing, grooming, giving food (pre-made) and handling the bed bath as well as the bedpan. The caregiver will also play a vital role in safeguarding the home environment to ensure my grandmother's utmost well-being. She lives with my soon to-be in laws, but they need help during work hours. This position does not call for any automobile use, as grandmother's needs must be catered to within the comfort and safety of her own home.
