Live in Caretaker for our senior mother
We are searching for a care taker for my mother. She is now in rehabilitation center for her fractured arm. We are willing to have a live in person, that is willing to do day to day tasks for her and keep her company during the day/evening. A live-in caretaker becomes both a source of safety and companionship. Your main goal is to help the elderly parent maintain as much independence, dignity, and comfort as possible while ensuring their daily needs are fully supported. Responsibilities: 🧑⚕️ 1. Personal Care • Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, and hygiene • Help with mobility (walking, transferring from bed to chair, using a walker or wheelchair) • Provide toileting assistance and incontinence care if needed • Administer or remind about medications on schedule • Monitor for any changes in health, such as appetite, sleep, skin condition, or mood ⸻ 🍽️ 2. Meals and Nutrition • Plan and prepare nutritious meals suited to dietary needs (e.g., low sodium, diabetic, soft foods) • Ensure the parent stays hydrated throughout the day • Help with feeding if required • Keep track of dietary restrictions and preferences ⸻ 🏡 3. Household Duties • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment • Do light housekeeping (laundry, dishes, vacuuming, changing bed linens) • Keep pathways free of clutter to prevent falls • Handle groceries and household supplies • Coordinate with other family members, nurses, or therapists ⸻ 💬 4. Companionship and Emotional Support • Offer conversation, emotional reassurance, and companionship • Encourage participation in hobbies, reading, games, or light exercise • Provide comfort and calmness in moments of anxiety or confusion • Accompany them on walks or outings to stay socially engaged ⸻ 🕒 5. Medical and Safety Monitoring • Keep a record of medications, appointments, and vital signs (if needed) • Watch for signs of health decline or new symptoms • Ensure safety equipment is working (grab bars, smoke detectors, alert systems) • Respond calmly and quickly to emergencies, contacting family or medical help ⸻ 🌙 6. Overnight Care (if required) • Be available for bathroom assistance or safety checks during the night • Respond to falls, restlessness, or confusion (common in dementia or nighttime anxiety) • Provide reassurance and help maintain a peaceful sleep routine ⸻ 🚗 7.
