Dementia Health Care Aide
Objective: To provide compassionate, patient-centered care and support for individuals with dementia, promoting their safety, dignity, and well-being. Key Responsibilities: Personal Care: Assist with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. Medication Support: Administer or remind clients to take prescribed medications as directed. Cognitive Support: Engage clients in activities that promote cognitive stimulation and emotional well-being, such as memory exercises and social interaction. Observation and Reporting: Monitor clients for changes in behaviour, health, or mood, and report findings to supervisors or medical professionals. Safety Monitoring: Ensure a safe environment, minimize fall risks, and support mobility. Meal Assistance: Prepare and serve meals, ensuring dietary needs are met. Emotional Support: Provide empathetic care to clients and their families, offering reassurance and understanding. Required Skills and Qualifications: Certification as a Health Care Aide or equivalent. Experience in dementia care is preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Knowledge of dementia-related behaviours and best practices for care. Working Conditions: May include evening or weekend shifts. Physical demands, including lifting or assisting clients. Work in home settings.
Salary $23/hour
