Compassionate Senior Caregiver – Dementia Support in Loving Family Home
We are seeking a kind, patient, and dependable caregiver to support my elderly mother, who is living with dementia. The ideal candidate will have experience and/or education in dementia or memory care, and a genuine passion for helping seniors live with comfort, dignity, and companionship. This is a live-out position in a warm and supportive family home (Hamilton area). You will work alongside a caring household that includes my husband and two adult daughters, as well as two friendly pets (a dog and a cat). Your daily responsibilities will include: Assisting my mother each morning with personal care — bathing, dressing, and grooming Administering her prescribed medications as directed by the family or doctor Providing companionship through conversation, gentle encouragement, and simple, meaningful activities (music, light walks, puzzles) Preparing a light lunch and occasional snacks Performing light housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, dishes, and laundry Feeding and monitoring our friendly dog and letting her in and out of the house as needed Helping maintain a calm, safe, and organized environment Communicating regularly with family members about my mother’s comfort, needs, and daily routines Qualifications: Experience and/or education in dementia or Alzheimer’s care (PSW certification, gerontology, or equivalent) Demonstrated patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills Prior senior caregiving experience Comfortable working within a family setting and around pets Must provide a valid Police Check / Vulnerable Sector Screening References required from previous caregiving positions Schedule: Daytime, live-out position (part-time or full-time, to be discussed) We’re looking for someone who will approach this role with warmth, consistency, and respect — someone who truly enjoys helping an elder feel cared for and at ease every day.
