Hi there, my name is Barb and I am 41 years old. I have a 20 year old daughter in University and have been a single parent since she was born. I have been working with children for 20 years and have worked in daycares, homes and also worked as a special needs worker in both settings. I love working with children and I believe loving what you do is what makes you great at your job. I am looking for full-time day hours (35-40 hrs/week) and must be paid as an employee (found out the hard way that a nanny position is not self employment according to the CRA. ) I have worked for multiple families but in this career children grow and it's time to move on. I cook, clean and do laundry. I love to colour, dance, play and do arts and crafts. I like to be outdoors and go on outings such as a walk to the park, zoo or splash pads in the summer. I am very organized and a hard worker with great references. I believe I have the most important job of all. taking care of your children. My recent employment was for 3. 5 years with a family of 2 children (2 & 4). We spent our mornings on outings such as the farm, zoo, child classes or simply the park. I don't enjoy being stuck in the house and enjoy helping the children explore anything they can. In my previous employment I have worked with twins and newborns. I also have experience working with special needs children. I worked at St. Amant in the daycare and was also a nanny for an Autistic child. I love kids and love to have fun and be silly. I have spent 5 years working in a daycare as a special needs worker as well as a CA. I have also spent 15 years employed as a nanny for multiple families. I have worked with children from newborn to the age of 8 outside of my home and of coarse I have experience raising older children as I have a daughter who is 20. Being employed as a nanny, I was responsible for cooking, cleaning, bathing, transportation, laundry and all the fun stuff in between. I enjoy playing outside in both summer and winter. I also enjoy going on outings whether it be to a near by park, story time at the local library or even heading to the zoo. I think it's very important for children to be able to explore and keep busy so I am always open to trying new things.
