Hannah G.
I am a student at Western University and in the summer months come home to the GTA. In the fall I will be entering my 3rd year of study, working towards a Bachelor of Arts in creative writing and creative arts production. I graduated high school in 2024 with honours and a student leadership award. I was heavily involved in student spirit, school recreation, and charity organizations throughout high school. I spent my youth competitively swimming and then transitioned to working in aquatics in 2022 as a lifeguard and swim instructor. These experiences have left me with interpersonal and leadership skills that are now transferable to my professional life. I have almost 5 years of childcare experience, including babysitting, nannying, and my work in aquatic recreation. In the pool, I worked with children of all ages (1-16) and all abilities (ASD, learning, or physical differences). My softer persona made me a great fit for our younger swimmers, although I enjoy building connections with and providing a safe space for children of all ages.
I have several years of experience with childcare, inside and outside of the home, and have returned to families year after year. My roles in the home include fostering attentive, warm relationships with both the child(ren) and guardians, as well as maintaining a tidy environment, simple meal preparation for the child(ren), bedtime routines, engaging activities/play, management of sibling dynamics, enforcement of household rules, and more. Outside of the home, I have accompanied kiddos to extracurricular activities on a regular basis, making sure they get everything out of the occasions as they would with a parent present. In addition to exciting outings like play structures and movie theaters. Throughout my high school and post-secondary education, I gained experience with children through babysitting and then nannying roles with greater responsibilities. The majority of my experience in childcare is the 3 years I have spent in aquatics as a lifeguard and swim instructor. My role as a lifeguard involved maintaining a safe and enjoyable aquatic environment for all swimmers. I am CPR and National Lifesaving certified. As well as a certified water safety instructor. My role as a swim instructor allowed me to work with kids of all ages and abilities. I provided instruction on proper swimming and water safety skills through modes that fit best for each child while building relationships built on comfort and trust. As time went on, I became a lead instructor/aquatic supervisor, meaning I was responsible for the safety and operations of all the lessons in the pool while communicating with parents and staff outside of the water. I have a passion for providing quality care through kindness, warmth, and empathy that addresses the needs of kids of all ages.
