Patricia B.
I have been married for 25 years and am the mother of five children who range in ages 14-23. I homeschooled them all during primary school while simultaneously running the household, providing nutritious meals and organizing stimulating and age-appropriate activities which gave each child the opportunity to discover their talents and establish friendships outside of the home. I grew up bilingual with English and German, of which the latter is the language we speak at home. I am known for having deep empathy and a genuine love for children. I truly desire to see the children I look after thrive and explore in a safe and stimulating environment, supporting their healthy development and growth by engaging them in age-appropriate activities that foster creativity, critical thinking, and social skills. I strive to create a nurturing atmosphere where they feel comfortable expressing themselves, building strong emotional foundations, and gaining confidence in their abilities. My goal is to not only provide exceptional care but also to be a positive role model, encouraging a love for learning and a sense of curiosity about the world around them. My hobbies include cooking, baking, gardening, and knitting. I enjoy trying out new projects and learning new skills. We have a small hobby farm which includes ducks, two small dogs, three cats and a bird. Beginning September 2024 I will be available to a new family as a part-time nanny. Occasional babysitting on evenings or weekends is possible. Excellent references and a clear vulnerable sector police check can be provided upon request. If you think that I would be a good fit for your family, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Apart from raising five children of my own, I have had the privilege of being a nanny to several children in the past from newborn to toddler and offer exceptional service based on the extensive experience I have gained over two decades as a caregiver. My past positions included partaking in parent-tot classes such as gymnastics and music classes. Outings to the library, trips to the park and running errands together are a few examples of our regular activities. I have also volunteered as a child care worker at my church supervising babies and toddlers. Additionally, I invest part of my summer vacation as a child care worker, security or dining-room personnel at a Christian children's camp in rural New York State. My current position as full-time nanny is coming to an end as the child I have been caring for will be transitioning to day care. I will become available as a part-time nanny in September 2024.
I went to vocational school in Germany and have a degree as a law clerk. After raising a family and years of homeschooling my children, I am nurturing some interests of mine in my free time. I have taken several university courses at Laurier on trauma as I worked as a crisis response volunteer with Victim Services at Waterloo Region. I have also recently taken university courses in horticulture with the University of Guelph.
