Rachelle F.
My mother is English, and I spent a year in Nicaragua teaching children with disabilities social and language skills (in Spanish), so I have a great appreciation for cultures. I am married with two children, ages 5 and 7, who go to school during the day. My sister and mother live in the area, so I visit them often. I love teaching art to children and engaging in art activities. I enjoy being outdoors, going for walks, sewing in my free time, and painting.
I am a Registered Early Childhood Educator currently working at a reputable childcare centre in Waterloo in the preschool room. Before this position, I operated a home daycare with another family, caring for two children in addition to my own two children. The children in my care were ages 1, 2, 3, and 4. We focused on preschool readiness, and I prepared meals for them, helped them nap, and spent a lot of time outdoors in our neighborhood. Prior to that, I worked for the Ottawa Carleton District School Board in a kindergarten classroom for 5 years. In this role, I led circle times, assisted the children in developing social skills, and supported them with self-care tasks. My initial experience in the field was at a reputable childcare centre in Waterloo where I worked in the afterschool program.
