Maeve M.
I’ve always had a way with kids. Others around me compliment the way I can see each and every child as an individual. Getting down on their level and hearing about their world brings me so much joy. I really enjoy crafting. I’ve run many art summer camps with around ten students, where we sometimes do pottery, build fairy houses, paint, make bracelets, and constantly talk about how we can leave the environment better than we found it. I’m finishing up my degree in the fall, and I’m looking for some part-time night shifts where I can help out wherever needed. I want to become a doula after completing my degree, and I would like to specialize in pre- and postnatal care. My extensive work with newborns to six-month-olds gives me so much confidence and reinforces how willing and capable I am. I truly believe this is my calling in life!
Originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, I began babysitting and connecting to parents through mummy and baby yoga that my mom taught. I started out around age 9 as a mother’s helper. Playing with the kids, and as I got older transitioned into babysitting and nannying for over 40 families. During the pandemic, I started nannying full-time for two doctors who had an 18 month old then three kids under three. I’m very familiar with any and all stages of newborn needs and postpartum needs for the family. After two years with this family we still have a really great relationship to this day. At 17 years old I moved out to Victoria for school for my sociology degree at UVic. I specialized my electives on early childhood education and American Sign Language. I’ve been nannying out here as the kids are getting older I want to transition more into supporting families needs with young children specifically. Whether that I sleep training, Night feeds, and other house hold duties that can be forgotten during stressful and transitional periods. I’m here to support your family in any way possible!
