Hello, my name is Kaitlyn! I am a Mcgill University student studying Education with a flexible schedule, which I can contribute to bettering my work with you! My passion for working with children attributes me to having patience, understanding and compassion for each child I work with. I also believe in the vitality to support long and healthy relationships which is why I would prefer to hold a long-term position. I have grown up in both Jamaica and Canada which has allowed me to see the world through many different lenses and find the joy in everything. I feel spending time outdoors, exploring the city, having well-rounded days, communicating on both fronts is incredibly important, and having a good relationship with you as a family. I have been nannying and working with children for the past 5 years. I have run online STEM camps at the height of covid and spent the past summer working with two young boys and occasionally working with children aged 5 to 9. Additionally, I have been tutoring for the past six years to help children feel confident and comfortable in educational settings. This past year while at school I have worked with a family in Vancouver which I sadly have to depart from as I transfer to Mcgill University for the remainder of my studies. At McGill, I will be doing my Bachelor of Education: Education in Global Contexts which furthers the learning and work I did in Vancouver while working on a Bachelor of Early Childhood Care and Education. While working this past year, my responsibilities included school pickup, meal cooking and lunch preparation, house cleanup and caring for three children aged one to five. I have worked with children with behavioural challenges, multiple interests and varied needs. When working with you and your family, my focus is ensuring the best care I can through relationships, care and understanding. While I have experience working with children, each child is so different and I focus on fostering them as an individual.
