My name is Heba. I'm a Jordanian woman who came to Canada 3 years ago. I'm married but currently live here by myself while my husband is still working back home. I studied post-graduate diploma in HR Management at Camosun College, and now doing an EA training program to eventually work in the school district. I used to be a teacher for 10 years back home. I taught English and social studies to students between K to grade 10. Currently I've been working for a year (till date) in a retirement home in Victoria as an activities assistant which is also a great asset for me. I LOVE helping children learn how to read and write, it's truly a passion of mine, and it gives me pride and satisfaction especially when it's kiddos learning how to do it for the first time! When I used to teach back home, I used Jolly Phonics which was so enjoyable and helpful to achieve this goal. I love reading time so much! And I love creative reading of stories where I make stories come to life by changing my tone of voice and acting out dialogues between characters to activate children's imagination; I feel this is particularly important in this age of excessive screen time. I am passionate about children's emotional wellbeing and educational needs. I enjoy children's company and coming down to their level to understand their way of thinking! Children are really fun company! I have 1 month experience of giving personal care, so I'm open to helping children who require assistance. I am a mother of a young man, so I can babysit any age from newborn to 10+ (coz I have the experience!) I'm also willing to prepare meals for the children. I have a clean record, and I have been given a clear background check to work with the vulnerable sector. I have CPR certificate. The best qualities about me are patience, kindness, compassion, communication, positive relationship building, and respect. I can't wait to meet you and your family !
