Sara B.
My name is Sara I am a Vancouver born artist/filmmaker who is looking to be a positive part of a household. I really enjoy working with children because I deeply believe in the importance of caring for them as a future generation and simply enjoy sharing creative, playful or educational moments with them. I also understand how much love and care you have for your child and want to be someone who supports you in your parenting journey so you are not weighed down by all the stresses that go into raising children. I am comfortable with the high emotions and stresses that can be in a childcare environment and also take a lot of joy in being the calming presence that can be of aid to everyone involved. I am CPR certified have a 2024 criminal background check, I am happy to cook and comfortable with different nutritional requirements, I am also comfortable with chores. At the end of the day, I want to be of service in a meaningful way to your family and am dedicated to creating a nurturing environment :) A bit about me~ My main hobbies include anything visual arts related— I love photography, working with analog materials, film projects, watching films, painting etc. I also love biking, yoga and being in nature. I am a zen practitioner and one of my main interests in life is practicing meditation! Whether it is in walking, cooking, sitting or in conversation I take a lot of joy in cultivating a peaceful, loving presence. As for experience— I have 10 years experience as a wrestling coach to children aged 5+ (I used to be an SFU varsity wrestler, national champion and team Canada member) I have worked as a film production summer camp counsellor for the previous 2 years at with The Cinematheque (contracted through UBC) campers ages were 7-13 I have volunteered at the Deer Park zen Monastery family retreat where I helped facilitate the 5-10 year old children’s camp. At the camp we taught the children different emotional regulation practices and cultivated love for all the members of our family and life. In high school I provided before school and after school care to a 8 year old and 10 year old for 2 years. In university I was a student athlete tutor and also have been the Editor of various publications. I am comfortable with tutor work, creating learning plans and especially helping with writing. I am ideally looking for regular consistent hours that are between 12-20hours week so I may have time to work on art projects outside of that time. Additionally, I am willing to discuss rate and hours depending on nature of work required. All in all, I like to be creative with children, I am a playful person and value the importance of creating joy. I am also very mindful of how my actions impact a child’s life and am committed to being a calm presence in the room that leads by cultivating positive outcomes for you and the child. I hope to hear from you and your family to chat about how we can work together in a nurturing, meaningful way!
