Marife C.
I find fulfillment in seeing children develop self-regulation, social skills, and other qualities they need to learn as they are growing up. I enjoy teaching and watching children think and do creative things. I love working with all children, and my favourite age group is 4-8 years old. One thing I know about kids that is true across cultures is, they can detect if one genuinely cares about them. I grew up in a family that has shaped the values I hold - integrity, teachability, decency, and being patient. My background and experience in the field of education reinforced those values, in addition to the knowledge I gained through academic discipline. I'm originally from the Philippines, came to Canada in 2015 as a volunteer teaching assistant in the NWT, and eventually settled in Vancouver in 2021. I have no family of my own and I live on my own. My health/well-being is very important to me, and my lifestyle reflects that. I love nature walks, reading about various topics, singing and playing the guitar, travelling, culture and food, doing activities with kids, and enjoying conversations with kids and adults alike.
I worked at 2 daycare centres in Regina, SK for about 2.5 years. I taught a split class (grades 1 and 2) for two years at a private school in Vancouver.
