Leah S.
My name is Leah, I am very much interested and would be honored to support your household with love, care, and dedication. I am 44 years old and originally from the Philippines, where I earned a Bachelor of Elementary Education. From 2002 to 2013, I worked as a preschool and kindergarten teacher in a private school, nurturing young learners during their most formative years. In 2013, I stepped away from teaching to become a full-time caregiver for the elderly mother of a close family friend who migrated to Canada, a role I lovingly fulfilled for 13 years. I also helped raise one of the grandchildren of the elderly woman I was caring for—starting when she was just 3 months old until she was 30 months old—while her parents were working. This experience, along with raising my own children, gave me first hand understanding of the needs of infants and toddlers—from feeding, bathing, and diaper changes to playing, bonding, and creating a safe, nurturing environment. I arrived in Canada on February 21, 2025, and am currently working as a caregiver in Vancouver. I hold an open work permit, which gives me flexibility to work across Canada. Although I’m still new to the country, I’ve pursued certifications to ensure I meet Canadian standards, including Food Safe, CPR/First Aid, and WHMIS. I also completed a caregiving certification for both adults and children back home in the Philippines last year. I’ve passed the BC driving knowledge test and am preparing for my road test. In the Philippines, I have been driving since 2018. I’m also a proud and devoted mother to two amazing daughters—Naomi, who is now in her second year of nursing school, and Nerie, a Grade 7 student. Both girls are kind-hearted, respectful, and honor students. I can assure you that they would be genuinely happy to help and engage with your children in small and thoughtful ways. My experience as a mother has given me the patience, understanding, and nurturing heart needed to care for children with love and responsibility. Aside from childcare, I can help with housework such as cleaning and laundry. I know how to cook and am eager to learn how to prepare Western meals. I’m highly trainable, dependable, and quick to adapt to new environments.
