I have been working with families as a nanny, educator, and family support for 28 years. I have experience working with both newborns and school-aged children. I am an artist and educator with a BFA, MFA, and a certified yoga and meditation instructor. I have been practicing yoga for 44 years (I started when I was 3!) and I bring all aspects of my life and work into my time with children. I believe in the power of social and emotional learning, helping children to know and use their own voice, to connect deeply with themselves and the natural world around us. I utilize all opportunities, be it a difficult moment or a joyous one, as learning opportunities for both the child/children and myself. My aim is to empower children of all ages through connection, art, music, play, and active relaxation. It has been a great joy, service, and honor in my life to work with families and their children. I speak English, Punjabi, Hindi, and French. I am adaptable and have a calm, caring personality, with an excitement for getting outdoors when possible. I have worked with families with one child and families with up to three children at a time. I have also worked in a nanny-share situation with two families and as a family support worker caring for the family as a whole. I have experience with newborns and school-aged children. Additionally I have experience working with adults and children with mental and developmental disabilities and neurodiversity. I have been working with families since 1996, and my last formal position was in 2017, at which time I went back to school at UBC to complete a BEd degree (2017-2018 medical leave).
