I'm Sophie, and I grew up in East Vancouver, where I currently live. I recently graduated from high school last spring, and I am 18 years old. I am currently taking a gap year and working at a jewelry company on Fridays, but other than that, my schedule is pretty much open. In my free time, I love doing creative projects. I am particularly interested in photography and videography, and that is what I'm planning on pursuing in university next year. Even though those are my main interests, I really love anything crafty and spend a lot of time discovering new mediums I can create with. Lately, this has included stamp making, hand sewing, and crochet. I have a very active imagination, which is one reason I have always been good with kids and why I like hanging out with them. I am patient, curious, and sociable, so I find it easy to connect with people and build relationships with kids I look after. I am reliable and trustworthy. I understand that looking after children is a big responsibility, so I do so mindfully and with care. I look forward to meeting your family.

I have been a babysitter since I was 12 and received my certificate. This consisted of occasional part-time work for families in the neighborhood, after school, evenings, and weekends. I also really enjoyed looking after my two newborn cousins, which included changing, bathing, and bottle feeding them. I had two longer-term contracts as a babysitter. I provided afterschool care for an eight-year-old girl for her spring semester, playing with her, providing snacks, supervising her piano lessons, and homework. Another family hired me for a similar role, looking after their five-year-old daughter once a week for several months. My friend and I also created and co-led an art camp for a group of about 10 neighborhood kids aged 7-10. It was a week-long camp that we held for two summers. Parents dropped off their kids in the morning, and we looked after them throughout the day, keeping them entertained with organized activities like crafts and exercise. I have loved being around kids younger than me and helping take care of them ever since I can remember. Being able to get certified as a babysitter was the most exciting thing to me as a pre-teen. I plan on continuing to pursue nanny jobs as an adult whenever I can.
