Laura M.
I am a happy, sociable person. I use my charisma to fit in and adapt to any group of people, which is why I feel I thrive in childcare and nannying. I am easygoing and able to flow with the preferences of the children and families I work with. I am a morning person who loves to be busy and experience life. In my free time, I am often reading a book at the park, camping, hiking, or paddle boarding. I really love music and like to have some playing in the background when I'm at home and at work. I come from a large family! We all look after each other and I feel that is where I developed my personality and nurturing side. My mother is an ECE provider in the UK. I followed her footsteps into a rewarding and fun career. I feel so lucky to have my career lead me to such a beautiful part of the world.
I am a 30-year-old British nanny with Permanent Canadian Residency status. I am looking for 4-5 days of work per week with a new family as my current little one who I work with will be going off to daycare in September 2024. I have spent the last 10 years in Canada as a nanny and au pair, both requiring down-to-earth care and ongoing support as the children grew and hit milestones from toilet training to the first day of kindergarten. I am looking for respectful employers who value my skills and judgement. Open communication with parents is very important in my work. I pride myself on being efficient and organized. I prefer to arrive a few minutes before my start so I can get ready for the day. I like early mornings and am open to having an early start if that suits your schedule. I am also able to provide babysitting and after-hours care as needed. I provide age-appropriate activities inside and outside the home. When I'm at work, I'm engaged with children and do not use screen time with them. I love to be outside. You'll find us splashing in puddles, collecting leaves, and exploring local parks and beaches in weather-appropriate gear. Fresh air and movement are key to healthy minds and bodies! When we're inside, I like to engage the children's imagination with role play and creative activities, reading books, and exploring the sensory world like making playdough, baking, and painting. I have completed two childcare qualifications in the UK resulting in certified diplomas. Before my move to Canada, I worked in a professional UK daycare for a range of ages from infants to pre-K. I also worked in before/after school care with children aged 5-11 years. When I moved to Canada, I worked as an au pair for a family with pre-K and school-aged children. After that experience, I moved into live out nannying in North Vancouver and Vancouver. I have been working various part time, short term, and long-term roles. I prefer to focus on direct child care work, but I have also filled roles that included house manager and housekeeping. I joined my current role in April 2023, caring for a little girl who was 11 months old and now more than 2 years old. It has been a joy to assist the family and provide her with care and age-appropriate activities. My experience also includes multiples and twins. I am able to provide plentiful references on request and I would be happy to talk further about my past roles and experiences.
