Looking for a family who is looking for something long term (at least a one year commitment or longer). Looking for a family who believes in consistency between nanny and parents, who can work as a team together and who are open to suggestions or advice from my many years in child care. Car seat safety and safe sleep are very important to me and would love a family who feels the same or is open to help in those areas for the safest options for their child as well as being receptive to general safety information if I encounter a safety issue. I am a certified Pediatric sleep consultant and am in the process of starting my business in that area. For this reason, I am looking for a nanny position with part-time hours so on off days or hours I can work on my sleep consulting. I can also offer gentle sleep training to you as your nanny at a discount. I am looking for a position that would preferably be 2-3 days a week for a total of 20-24 hours a week. I am also a certified child passenger safety tech as car seat safety is very near and dear to my heart. I also plan to be certified as a potty training consultant in the near future and am currently training to be a baby sign language instructor. It appears my current contract is ending in July, so I am looking to line up a new family sometime in July. I have always enjoyed working with children from the time I was very young. I am very nurturing, warm, gentle, loving, affectionate and fun. I am very patient. I have a small quiet personality which is often handy when dealing with children as sometimes a quiet soothing voice is what they need. On the other hand I can be very fun and energetic and animated. Children love when I read stories and sing songs with them as I make voices and funny facial expressions and actions. I am amazed at how long they can hold their attention when I am doing activities of this nature with them. They are actively engaged. I am located in the Finch and Victoria Park area so would prefer to find a family as close to me as possible but am willing to commute up to an hour for the right family. Most of my nanny experience has been in East York and I thoroughly LOVE that area, and while it's a commute for me, I am more than happy to work in that area as it offers so many great activities for children. I graduated from Centennial College in 2005 with a diploma in ECE. I have experience working with all ages from various field placements in college, working in day care centres as well as working as a nanny. I am certified in Infant and Child CPR and will renewing that certification in a couple weeks so it will be up to date. As a Nanny I have worked with newborns up to age 5. I provide the child’s parents with monthly calendars of daily activities as well as a daily report of the child’s day. I also have taught children many things including kindergarten readiness skills, such as shapes, colours, numbers, letters, how to dial 911, learning their name, address and phone number and how to write their name. I also worked with one child who was delayed in walking and I had her walking within the first month I was there. I believe in providing a safe, comfortable and inviting environment for the child. A space where the child can learn, play and grow. An environment that builds the child's self-esteem. Teaching the child problem solving and self-helps skills so that the child can feel independent. I enjoy doing arts and crafts in my spare time. Planning music and movement and art activities for children is one of my loves. I love creating activities and experiences for the children that help them learn, explore and grow. I also love to take children on outings to the park, library, drop-in centres, museums, and more. I am always continuing to learn and grow, I do a lot of research on child development in my spare time.
