my name is Donna. I am 59 years young. I have lived in the Riverdale area for 24 years. I am a Microsoft Office Specialist and worked for The Salvation Army for many years. I live alone, I practice social distancing and I love to read and crochet. I am a widow and I have raised one daughter on my own. She is currently enrolled at McMaster University in the Honours Program studying political science. I have my CPR, AED -RC, mental health first aid, police check, vulnerable persons check, food handling certificate and several certificates in the safety of children. I will sit with and help your child should they be learning from home. I love to read to children or be read to, play games, help with homework and make crafts. In my position at at The Salvation Army my primary soft skill is patience. I have an extreme amount of patience, empathy, understanding and love to give. I hope you are all doing well! My name is Donna and I reside in the Riverdale Area near Jones and Danforth. I have taken the Early Childhood Education Assistant training program at the Adult Learning Centre and passed with a 86% average in 2023. I learned so much even though I have raised a child on my own. Along with this training I have my CPR/AED First Aid, Food Handler Certificate, Police Background Check and all immunizations required to work with infants. My experience comes from raising my own daughter by myself for 23 years. I can attest that my daughter is a well grounded child with good grades throughout grade school as well as Riverdale Collegiate. She won the leadership award in 6th grade. She was a girl guide for ten years, a Royal Canadian Air Cadet and on the Riverdale swim team. She always did well academically as I insisted on a homework routine. I was careful about screen time on the computer and kept her busy in after school activities as well. In the summers she was always enrolled in day camps or sleep away camps. She was always taking a swimming lessons or dance, t-ball, ice skating, basketball, volleyball, skateboarding, web design, trampoline, gymnastics, snow boarding, skiing, even roller derby. So I have twenty years experience raising a child who is successful academically, physically, mentally and just graduated McMaster University with an Honors Degree in Political Science. I am a proud parent as I am sure you are as well. Additional Experiences/Qualifications: I am a very happy patient person who loves children. I have learned in my studies that it is so important for young minds to discover, experience and learn on their own and with assistance. I will keep your child learning and doing and playing.
