Sofie C.
I love caring for children. I truly believe every child deserves to feel safe, seen, respected, and encouraged to grow into who they are naturally. My approach is heart-led, nurturing, and grounded in mindfulness, emotional connection, and respect for each child’s individuality. I have over 13 years of experience working with children and families through early childhood education, including experience at Seneca Polytechnic in both educational and mentoring environments. My philosophy is inspired by holistic and land-based learning, where children are supported through creativity, nature exploration, emotional awareness, open communication, and meaningful relationships. I value a more horizontal and democratic approach with children, where their voices, feelings, and ideas are honored age-appropriately. I also incorporate mindfulness, emotional regulation, gentle guidance, and earth stewardship into my caregiving style through activities like nature walks, creative arts, gardening, storytelling, calming practices, and encouraging curiosity about the world around us. In addition, I have experience supporting children from diverse cultural, emotional, developmental, and socio-economic backgrounds, including children with special needs and children experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges. My goal is always to create a calm, supportive, and loving environment where children feel emotionally secure and free to learn, play, and be themselves.
