I'm Sabrina and I would describe myself as a caring and dedicated nanny based in Toronto. I have experience working with kids from ages 7 months to 7 years old spanning over the past ~8 years or so. My experience includes mostly babysitting, as well as volunteer work in kindergarten classes and tutoring 2nd grade math. I have a compassionate and empathetic approach to childcare. I know being a kid can be really confusing and overwhelming at times and I try to keep these things in mind when caring for kids. Listening to and respecting their emotions and needs while still upholding rules and behavioral expectations is the mindset I hold when looking after children in my care. I also of course try to make our time together a fun and enjoyable experience! I love doing crafts with kids and exploring their creative and adventurous sides with them. I also love asking them questions or encouraging their curiosity about an activity we may be doing or their surroundings if we are on an outing. This way, they are able to practice engaging in critical thinking and observational skills as well as realize that learning can be fun and interesting! Helping the children I work with develop their skills/confidence and learn more about the world and themselves is the most enjoyable part of working with kids for me. In addition to keeping the children I'm looking after happy, healthy and safe I am also able to do light housekeeping, meal preparation, some pet related responsibilities if applicable, homework help, and other small errands. I am also certified in CPR/First Aid (level C) and can provide a recent vulnerable sector check. One family I worked with for several years (around 2018-2021) with their daughter from infancy to age 3. During my time babysitting with them I was responsible for: - supervision and maintaining her safety - diaper changing - feeding her - occasionally preparing meals/snacks - entertaining her (we would play together at home or I'd take her to a nearby park to play) Over the past several years I've worked with a family whose (now 3 year old) son I would babysit for 3-4 hours at a time. My responsibilities would include: - supervision and maintaining his safety - feeding him - playing with/entertaining him - taking him out in the stroller to nap/play at a nearby park. I also have experience with tutoring a 7 year old girl in math for a few months (2023). I worked at the families home for an hour after school hours. Responsibilities included: - going over math concepts and playing math games to further her understanding of the subject - recognize and address areas she struggled with. Lastly, I have volunteered in a few kindergarten classes occasionally for several years (2021-2023). While volunteering I would essentially act as a teacher's helper including: - helping with cleaning the class and organizing - playing with the students - helping mediate disputes between students - making sure they were paying attention during lessons/ when instructions were being given.
