John Mark F.
I'm John Mark, a passionate and detail-oriented healthcare and laboratory professional with a strong background in biotechnology, phlebotomy, and medical laboratory technology. Currently, I'm completing my Associate’s Degree in Biotechnology at Centennial College in Toronto, and I’m certified by the Medical Laboratory Professionals’ Association of Ontario (MLPAO). Over the years, I’ve gained hands-on experience in various roles—from caregiving and phlebotomy as a volunteer with the Philippine Red Cross, to working as a Pharmacy Technician Assistant at Shoppers Drug Mart, and now as a Laboratory Processing Technologist at Progenics Cord Blood Cryobank. I’m skilled in microbiological testing, quality assurance, and lab instrumentation, and I take pride in combining my clinical knowledge with a strong technical skill set to contribute to safe, accurate, and efficient healthcare services.
I have gained valuable experience as a Nurse’s Assistant in a clinic/hospital setting in the Philippines, where I provided direct care and assistance to children with various medical and developmental needs. In this role, I was responsible for supporting the nursing team in providing quality care to pediatric patients, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being during their stay. My primary duties included assisting with daily activities such as feeding, bathing, and dressing children, while also monitoring their vital signs and providing basic medical care under the supervision of registered nurses and doctors. I helped manage medical records, administered prescribed medications, and ensured that children followed prescribed care plans. In addition to clinical tasks, I supported emotional and developmental needs by comforting and reassuring children during medical procedures, maintaining a calm and nurturing environment. I collaborated closely with parents, updating them on their child's progress and providing education on health management and aftercare. My role as a Nurse’s Assistant allowed me to strengthen my caregiving abilities while working alongside healthcare professionals, helping to provide comprehensive, compassionate care for pediatric patients. Through this experience, I developed strong communication and organizational skills, ensuring that children received the highest standard of care and attention.
