Spirit B.
I am a second-year university student currently pursuing a double major in English and Indigenous Studies, with a college-level background in social service provision and nonprofit experience serving children and youth in a number of cultural, social, and educational-based after-school programs. I am a creative, forward-thinking 'child at heart' who understands the nuances of engaging with children for the development of their emotional and physiological needs. I am extremely sensitive and caring, with the ability to reiterate healthy boundaries and aim to encourage, redirect, and guide with love and understanding. Faith and fellowship largely center my personal and spiritual life, as well as my calling for in-home caregiving. I enjoy maintaining an active presence on my campus as a mature student and have had the ability to guide and direct numerous students in their chosen career paths in the past. My long-term career goals are to continue to provide personal and familial care and service and to utilize my current educational pursuits to assist in tutoring and academic advancement for children. Their safety and ability to be seen and heard, with space to express themselves freely, become my top priority as a caregiver.
I come from a small town with strong family values and would like to emphasize the importance of family connection and closeness in the heart of the city. In addition to caring for children in my personal life, I completed a two-year Community Worker diploma in 2017 before starting university. During my diploma program, I specialized in after-school programming for preschool and elementary-aged children. I am also experienced in tutoring and have worked with elementary-aged children to improve their reading skills.
