My name is Mackenzie and I am passionate about childcare and teaching. I have over a decade of childcare experience. My experiences are varied including work as a tutor, after-school program leader, swim instructor, and skating coach. I have worked as a nanny for several years and center play-based learning and reading in my program. I love to do arts and crafts, talk about science and the natural world, go swimming, and play make-believe with kiddos. I worked at summer camps for six summers and was the assistant director of YMCA Camp Kitchikewana in 2023. During this time I developed a deep love for programming and creating activities tailored to the developmental age of the children I work with. I grew up in Oakville and have two younger brothers. My mother is a teacher so we spent our summers learning through play. I loved baking with my mom and helping her in the garden growing up. I have taken these experiences with me into my work as a nanny and like to involve the children I work with in activities such as cooking. I graduated from Queen's University in 2022 with my Bachelor of Arts. I majored in history and theatre. I am currently studying at the University of Toronto working towards my Master's of Information and Library Sciences.
