Leah P.
My name is Leah, I'm 21 years old and I graduated from the University of Guelph in June with a Bachelor of Arts degree, with a Concentration in Psychology. I'm a fun and caring employee while showing dependability, organization, and a willingness to do my best in my job positions. I am successful when it comes to managing various tasks and duties with completion, while maintaining a positive attitude. Most of my work experience comes from working with children and I take pride in my ability to work, teach and ensure a fun environment for them while ensuring their safety and completing separate duties. Outside of work, my hobbies include reading, arts and crafts, health and fitness, and socializing with friends and family.
In the past few summers I have worked at a summer camp as a Head Counsellor and Senior Staff member. Although I've never worked specifically as a nanny, I have gained experience in what it takes to care for various children while emphasizing care while ensuring fun. My main responsibilities as a counsellor was being the primary caregiver for numerous cabin groups, each having 6-10 campers at a time, bringing campers to activities and meals on time, teaching various outdoor activities, planning daily activities while ensuring their happiness, well-being, and safety. Throughout my time as a staff member at camp, my abilities were recognized by being provided a senior staff position, where I was an Activity Leader of Crafts where I was responsible for similar duties of a counsellor, but my position had emphasis on teaching a specific activity to a group of approximately 30 campers at once. For the past two summers since I worked at camp full time, I've volunteered for a few weekends as a counsellor for the younger campers (age 3-6) that come to camp for a weekend. I worked directly with a cabin of ~6 children as their primary caregiver where my duties were preparing and planning for various activities, help with changing and bathroom breaks, bringing them to meals and assisting with feeding, and putting them to bed where I regularly dealt with homesickness and meltdowns.
I also have my Bronze Cross and am able to lifeguard and supervise swimming.
