My name is Amira, but most people call me Mira. I'm a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) and I have experience working with children between 5 mos- school age. This includes planning lessons, implementing routines and assisting with transitions. I believe that children are very capable and my personal philosophy is to guide children as a co-learner, encouraging them to explore and learn from the world around them. My activities are child-led, building on each specific child's interests with developmental goals and targets. I encourage the children I work with to ask questions as they grow and learn. I'm also very conscious of modelling behaviours to children when I work with them (i.e. respect is mutual, don't just demand that they be kind to others, model the behaviour instead). I know that every adult in a child's life plays a very important role so when it comes to older children, I prefer that all parents and the children themselves are part of the decision-making process to hire me. Your child's safety and comfort is my top priority; let's set up a meeting and see if your child(ren) would like for me to spend time with them! I would also love to discuss all your household rules, expectations and daily routines beforehand to make the transition of a new caregiver easier on the children. In addition to being a RECE (Registered Early Childhood Educator), I graduated from York University in 2015 and then earned my Master of Documentary Filmmaking degree in New York and Los Angeles before moving back to Ontario. I went back to school for early childhood education after receiving my MFA because I truly enjoy working with children and spent many years babysitting throughout college before earning my qualifications to become an RECE. My certifications include: Food Handler's certification, First Aid and CPR Level B and First Aid and CPR Level C. *Very Important: I am fully COVID vaccinated and boosted (x4) and ONLY interested in working with the same (at least 2 vaccines received).
