Jericho L.
At the heart of me, I'm an individual who identifies as non-binary, and like many people from my generation, I too am striving to figure out ways to make ends meet in today's faltering economy. It's no small task, as many can testify to, but I believe that finding one's passion and leveraging it can often be the key to survival, and possibly even success. My passion lies in assisting and supporting families, particularly those with children. Perhaps spurred by my own experiences, I feel a strong connection to those trying to hold things together in hectic daily routines while managing child care. My family didn't have the luxury of outside help when I was growing up and this lack led to some relationships being strained, some bridges inadvertently being burned. It is a scenario that many families can relate to and one that I hope to help avoid through my efforts. As life would have it, my sensitivity and understanding to the unique situation of families with special needs children is also rooted in my personal experiences. My brother was diagnosed to be on the autism spectrum at a young age, which made our household dynamics a bit different from conventional ones. Living in close quarters with my brother and watching him navigate life has given me insight and empathy into what it feels like to belong to a family of special needs. I hasten to clarify, this doesn't mean that people with special needs are a burden. Quite the contrary! They vivify our lives with a unique lens on the world that often invokes awe and admiration within us for their tenacious spirit and brave heart. It just needs a different level of understanding, patience, and adaptability to maximize compatibility and happiness. I aspire to use my experience and understanding to make a difference, one family at a time. (I did use the make it longer feature)
Due to parental issues from the age of 12 to 16 I was in charge of making sure my little brother was fed, cleaned, clothed, and did his homework which I had helped him complete when needed
I completed what's called the French Immersion program for elementary and secondary school which earned me a double Dogwood diploma. I am also looking into becoming an ea for special needs children. I also completed the peer tutoring course working in the BASES department of my school
