Hello, my name is Emmanuella Chioma, and I'm an experienced nanny based in Lasalle. With over a decade in the childcare field, I am confident and comfortable taking care of all age groups, from newborn babies to those over 10 years old. As a parent myself, I bring my personal understanding to the professional role, and I have a unique ability to understand and connect with children. I am a Nigerian citizen, fluent in English and a little French, which I am happy to incorporate into your child's developmental activities if desired. I hold a Bachelor's Degree and have received additional training in First Aid, CPR, and Certified Elderly Care, signifying my dedication to providing the best care possible. Furthermore, I am also equipped to work with children who have disabilities, making me versatile in various care situations. My working hours are focused mainly towards the weekend overnight, specifically Friday and Saturday nights, making me perfectly suited for parents in need of some time out during the weekends. Furthermore, I am ready for an immediate start and looking for a Part-time, Live-out Nanny, Babysitter, Nanny/Housekeeper, or Mother's Helper role, with the capacity to handle up to two children. In terms of duties, I am more than capable of running errands, doing the grocery shopping, and preparing meals for the kids. You'll find that I can seamlessly blend into your household routine, attending to its needs, I have a driver's license, and while I don't have a vehicle to use on the job, I am more than willing to travel and even relocate as required. My goal is always to create a nurturing and safe environment for your children where they can learn and grow. Please feel free to contact me if you feel I'd be a good fit for your family. I look forward to the possibility of working with you. I am a mother of two kids, I have worked as a child care tutor for more than 6 years.

A little about me: I first and foremost value communication, and will really strive to help you raise your kids the way YOU specifically would wish for. I am open to working with any family that is a good fit, though I have a particular passion for supporting children with disabilities. I was raised bilingually (English and French) by my parents who are both attorneys. Family is very important to me, and I was raised with strong family values such as respect, trust and honesty - but we had lots of fun goofing around too!! My household growing up was very structured (although chaotic - lots of little kids running around). I started playing the violin as child and still play to this day; I'm proud to say I was a dedicated member of the Edmonton Youth Orchestra for 12 years (Assistant concertmaster for 4!). My mom was really an amazing caregiver and I have so many fond memories of us together. She read to us lots growing up (I still have many many amazing books I could bring!) and reading is one of my favourite activities to this day. TV was not a big part of my childhood, and to this day I'm rarely watching TV/on my phone. Health and nutrition were integral to my upbringing, teaching me the importance of physical activity as a healthy outlet for children’s energy. I believe physical activity is often undervalued and strive to incorporate it into daily routines. I grew up playing soccer and would regularly take my younger siblings to the park etc. when I was a kid. As a family we will still all play soccer together and go on hiking / canoeing trips. I am planning to apply to Speech Language Pathology programs in the coming years as I save up. I live near the University of Alberta with my partner but am open to commuting to somewhere else in Edmonton. I also do research at the UofA once a week in the mornings*. ________ I have extensive hands-on experience with children: --> As the oldest of four siblings, I played a significant caregiver role for my two youngest siblings. I was responsible for their morning routine, meals, homework help, and commuting to activities (and I still have a great relationship with them! :) --> I have six months of experience in paediatric research, working closely with young children one-on-one or in small groups, getting comfortable with various personalities. --> Additionally, I have been volunteering for a year with Chatter, a social skills program for neurodivergent children and teens, enhancing my communication and adaptability with children with different needs. --> I also solo coached a U10 girls' soccer team for a year, developing leadership and organizational skills while managing group dynamics and tailoring my approach to each child’s abilities. --> Most recently, I completed a shadowing internship with a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), assisting in elementary schools and supporting children’s language and communication development. I would have loved to nanny earlier, but I have been in university and just graduated. I am passionate about working with children and eager to bring my diverse experiences and enthusiasm to a nanny position, as well as my education in both motor and language development. ________ Education: I just recently graduated with honours from the UofA with a Bachelor's of Science in Kinesiology. Throughout my degree, I completed several kinesiology courses related to child development, including a child motor development class. I have also taken courses in child language acquisition and developmental psychology, which have provided me with a comprehensive understanding of children's growth and communication needs. My schooling from Kindergarten - Grade 12 was in the francophone school system and I am a native French speaker. Other courses I have taken such as advanced sport injury management (paired with my several years work experience as a medic in competitive sporting environments) have also trained me to be very calm and capable in the case of medical emergencies.

I am a psychology student who has worked as a missionary for over ten years in different countries, working with children. I am passionate about kids, hence my interest in studying child psychology. I am 34 years old. I have volunteered with different organizations, schools, etc where I gained rich experience with children with special needs as well. Given my commitment and love for children, my salary was dedicated to the less privileged, who benefited from my efforts. I am proud and happy to know that a lot of kids are alive today because of the sacrifices I made. I believe that wherever I find myself is my home as long as it is comfortable with my employer. I have worked as a coordinator in an Elementary/ high boarding and day school in Nigeria and Cameroon. I have also worked as a volunteer, teaching moral instruction to children in Chica, US. I also have deep experience in babysitting and childcare for private families in Canada, where I have raised children who now call me MOM.
