I come from a friendly family of 5 with 2 younger sisters who I love with everything in me. I am currently a biology student at the University of Manitoba and am aiming to finish a masters degree in occupational therapy! I love ice skating, snowboarding and music (I can't pick a favourite genre) as well as reading. I am always excited to meet new people and love a good conversation! I have worked 2 years as a Program Planner for Winnipeg's drop in program for children ages 6-17 years. This position included watching more than 10 kids at a time, responsible for 4 children during field trips, managing problem behaviours and confrontations between children and completing various activities with many children. Teaching a cooking/baking class for children ages 6-8 years and assisting a cooking class for ages 9-12 have let me experience how to give instruction and get kids excited for different activities, as well as show them how to share and take turns. I also have an extensive background in babysitting as a young child/teen myself. Big sister of the neighborhood and my own younger siblings was what you could call my role. Volunteering has provided me with experience as well. 3 months doing activities with children in Cancer Care's children play room between their chemo treatments and volunteering at a summer camp, motivating friendly activities and managing behaviour with 10+ children for 4 months.
