My name is Emily. I was born and raised in beautiful BC with my 23 year-old brother and our two parents who are happily married. My background is Czech/Slovak and we visit Europe every two years in the summer to see family, so I have been able to retain the languages. I speak 4 languages (English, French, Slovak and Czech) fluently, and am half fluent in Italian. I love to travel, hike, ski and snowboard. Anything outdoors makes my heart happy, and I love doing outdoor activities with the kids I babysit. I think it’s the best way to spend time together! But then again, we live in Vancouver and let’s face it, sometimes indoors sounds much more appealing ;) I can always come up with fun, creative things to do inside as well, so time on screens can successfully be minimized. I work as a park ranger at Belcarra regional park during the summer season, so I have a lot of down time during the winter/spring to babysit and am very flexible.

I have babysat for over a dozen families with kids as young as 1 year old to as old as 13 since I first started out babysitting in middle school. I always make sure that fun is #1 on the itinerary, wether it's a trip to the park, arts and crafts, or baking something yummy. My goal is to find common ground and establish interests with the children I am looking after so that I can make babysitting something they look forward to, and also to help families spend more quality time together and make parenting fun when it's hard! I charge $17/hour :)

Bachelors degree in Environmental Resource Management (Forestry and Ecology) from UNBC.
