Michaela H.
I’m usually the one volunteering to sit near the crying baby on a plane—I don’t mind at all. I believe in kitchen dance parties, lots of laughter, and creative play, balanced with structure and helping children build confidence, responsibility, and independence.
I am a dedicated and caring individual with a strong background in both the arts and working with children. I bring patience, attention to detail, and creativity into everything I do. Outside of my professional work, I enjoy camping, hiking, reading, and engaging in thoughtful conversations about the world around us. I am a proud parent of two young adults currently in university and college, and I value the experience and perspective that comes from raising independent, capable children. Through both my family life and extended caregiving as a nanny, I have developed a deep understanding of children at all stages, from infancy through the teenage years. In addition to my personal experience, I have been recognized as a Volunteer of Distinction with the Durham District School Board for my work supporting students. My volunteer efforts have included teaching remedial reading programs and leading art-based activities, helping children build both confidence and skills in a supportive, encouraging environment. I also have experience supporting children with unique needs, including managing dietary requirements and helping navigate anxiety, depression, and I approach caregiving with empathy, calmness, and adaptability. I am seeking an opportunity to support a family in caring for their children, bringing a nurturing presence, strong communication, and a genuine love of helping young people learn and grow.
