My name is Courtney. At this time, I am progressing through the final month of the Early Childhood Education program conducted at Algonquin College. When it comes to my personal interests and hobbies, the list is as diverse and engaging as they come. Some of my favourite pastimes include indulging in photography, partaking in various sports, being a fan of hockey, and continually expanding my horizons by developing skills such as crocheting, knitting, amongst others. I am seeking opportunities where I can begin to apply the skills I've gained throughout my program, and I am particularly looking to do babysitting or nanny work to jumpstart my professional career in childcare. I am fortunate to have several years of immersive experience with children, spanning across an age range from fresh newborns right up to 12+ year olds. I also have had the opportunity to extend my patience, empathy and my caregiving skills in complex care situations, working with children who have special needs. This includes children diagnosed with conditions like autism, epilepsy and cerebral palsy. My qualifications extend beyond my education; I have successfully completed training to obtain my first aid and CPR certification, crucial in emergency situations. I also have sought out specialized training certification in anaphylaxis management. If needed, I can readily provide documentation of my clearance through what are known as vulnerable sector checks. One of my assets includes a clear understanding of early childhood development, meaning I'm fully equipped to address every child's individual needs. Additionally, I’m highly skilled at creating and initiating fun, engaging activities that serve a dual purpose - entertainment and developmental skill-building. I aim to target developmental milestones through these actions, helping each child in my care achieve their full potential while enjoying their time. I have many years of experience with children and have cared for children from newborn to age 12. I have experience with those who have disabilities such as autism, epilepsy and cerebral palsy. I was a camp councillor for a large group of children with various ages though one of the summers.
