Hello, my name is Jewels ! I am a young professional with a diploma in Social Service Work and I am working towards completing my Bachelor of Social Work. For many years I have been working with seniors and young children through Therapeutic Recreation. In my previous roles, I was responsible for preparing and carrying out daily activities for seniors and I also have various experiences in sports. Growing up, I was a competitive basketball player and would typically volunteer my time within the organization to run day camps for children and coach younger teams. Currently, my fiancee and I live in the west end with our 3 cats and love the outdoors. We enjoy bike rides, going on walks, throwing a frisbee and spending time in our home art studio doing crafts. Currently, we do not have any children but hope for some in the future. I am First Aid certified and have a current Vulnerable Sector Check. My previous experience with children includes running day camps for my hometown basketball league where I was coaching and mentoring younger children through sport. Previously, I worked as a Behavioural Therapist with children who have autism. In this role, ABA therapy was used through play to incorporate learning through play. In other roles where I worked in recreation, I was running programs for seniors such as exercise, arts and crafts, games such as bingo, bean bag toss, etc. Within this role, recreation staff would also assist with meal service such as baking activities, having refreshments at social hour, etc.
