Keira G.
My name is Keira, a 22 year-old woman from Okotoks, Alberta. For the past four years, I have gone to school in Langley, British Columbia at Trinity Western University majoring in psychology and minoring in sociology but recently graduated bringing me back to my hometown for work. I currently work at the local Rec Centre doing childcare programs such as day camps, after/before school care program, and children classes. When I am not at work, I enjoy reading by the fire, hiking a Kananaskis trail, or baking my famous blueberry muffin recipe. I will always make time for family and friends too, coming from a close knitted family that taught me inclusivity, patience, and spontaneity. Others often describe me as reliable, energetic, and great at engaging with children through creative play and learning activities. I take a lot of pride in building strong, trusting relationships with both kids and parents. I’m looking forward to connecting with a family who values open communication, mutual respect, and a warm home environment!
For the past three years, I have worked at my hometown rec centre in childcare doing programs such as day care, after school programs, day camp, and classes. I have just finished my bachelor of arts in psychology and minor in sociology, aiming to work for a few years before going for my masters in child development. Within my work, I focus on creating an inclusive, fun, and engaging environment as I have worked with ages from 4 months to 16 years old. I cater each activity to the proper age to ensure it is fun and challenging yet engaging. As a young adult, I create a welcoming attitude by engaging in each game and activity with them as much as I can.
