Tessa W.
My name is Tessa, and I’m from North Vancouver. I’m currently in university working toward my degree in paediatric nursing, and I’ve built my experience around caring for children in a way that makes them feel safe, supported, and heard. For the past five years, I’ve worked at summer camps, including three years as a counsellor at an overnight camp where I was responsible for caring for 10–12 children at a time, ages ranging from 4 to 17. During these weeks, I focused on creating a welcoming, comfortable environment while also providing structure and important learning experiences. Over the years, I’ve received training in conflict resolution and problem solving with children, and I pride myself on being patient, creative, and attentive to each child’s unique needs. Outside of childcare, I stay active through running and dancing — two hobbies that help me bring a lot of energy and positivity into my work. I also have two pets of my own, so I am more than comfortable helping care for animals as well.
