Padmé B.
My name is Padmé and I am a linguistics student at Concordia University. I speak both French and English and have experience working in both languages. I have been consistently working ever since I was of age and have learned many things over the years. My previous positions have primarily been surrounding childcare but also, retail, marketing, maintenance and office reception. Although these roles may not seem correlated they have taught me transferable skills in communication, inclusion, organization, collaboration and responsibility. I have been dancing since I was five years old. I have tried tons of different styles from Ballet to Hip Hop to Salsa, Hula and more. I also play trumpet and love music. I am a middle child and have two brothers. I'm originally from Ottawa and like to go back and visit when I can. My grandmother owned and operated a daycare for over 40 so naturally she inspired me to lead a similar path. My expertise lies in childcare and like many childcare providers I started babysitting at the age of 12 and haven’t stopped working with children since. I just started a position as a replacement educator at a daycare but I'm looking for a job with consistant weekly hours. My other experience includes volunteering for kids hip-hop classes which combine my passion for dance with my love for kids. I have hosted my own summer camps as well as worked for an established community organisation. In order to solidify my French, I decided to go to France to spend a year as an au pair. I lived with and took care of the three kids outside of school hours. My responsibilities included schedule organisation, keeping them on track with school, emotional development, safety and wellbeing. I cherish the fond memories sharing Canadian culture with them and seeing them learn and grow. I still consider those kids to be my family and have since been back to visit them since. With my linguistics degree I plan on becoming a speech pathologist working alongside schools. Moving to Montréal for school is the first time in my life that I haven’t worked with children and I miss the community involvement. I know I would be a perfect fit for family childcare as I already know what to expect. In my work I value safety, respect, fun and learning.
I'm looking for occasional babysitting in or near NDG. I'm a part-time nanny & daycare educator. I was an Au Pair for a year in Normandy, I took care of three kids ages 2, 4 and 6. I have been back to visit them many times because of how strong the bond we created was. I have pretty much been surrounded with children all of my life. I’ve been babysitting quite frequently since I turned twelve years old. I've spent summers working at a summer camps with kids from 4-12 years old. I also flew out to British Columbia and spent a month living with my aunt where I got to do everyday childcare for my younger cousins (7 and 10). I have babysat for multiple families and I’m very used to adapting to different family dynamics.
I’m currently in my third of studying linguistics at Concordia University. I'm planning on becoming a speech-pathologist and working with children in the future.
