Flora W.
My name is Flora, I’m a passionate, responsible and dedicated art student originally from Toronto. I’m currently living in Montréal and planning to work for a year before continuing my degree at Concordia. As the oldest of three siblings (and lots of cousins) I love being around kids, and childcare has always played an important part of my life. Whether they’re part of my family or the children of neighbours, acquaintances and clients, it’s always a privilege to spend time engaging with them, learning from them, and helping them grow into the most capable, confident and caring versions of themselves. Before my move to Montréal I was pursuing my bachelors in fine arts at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, and as an artist I love any kind of creative project and I’m always looking for new art ideas or hands-on crafting skills to try out. When I’m not picking up new art mediums, some of my hobbies include exploring the city, finding new recipes to try, or working through my summer reading list. English is my first language, and I’m still in the process of improving my French fluency. As soon as I was old enough to take the Red Cross babysitting certification I started working as an occasional and regular babysitter for a number of incredible families, many of which I’m still in contact with today. In addition to babysitting, I’ve gotten the opportunity to work several childcare related jobs over the last seven years, including a summer position at the on-site staff daycare center at Ontario Pioneer Camp and a full-time summer nanny/housekeeper for a family with a four year old and twelve month old. I’ve also worked as a restaurant server and community center worker, which all gave me experience with cooking healthy meals, meal prep, food and kitchen safety and various cleaning and housekeeping responsibilities in the homes and establishments I’ve worked. I’m also comfortable planning activities and excursions to keep kids active and entertained, and working with them to improve reading, writing and other fundamental skills. For me, childcare has been a way to connect with some incredible families and neighbours, and whether you’re looking for full-time childcare, occasional babysitting, or someone to help share the load of day-to-day household responsibilities, I’m ready to meet your family where you’re at. If this sounds like a good fit and you’d like to hear from my references or set up an interview, I look forward to connecting with you!
I've worked a number of childcare jobs over the last seven years, including occasional and regular babysitting for several families as well as after school care, full time private nannying and part-time summer camp/childcare center positions. On my own, I've been responsible for up to three children at a time and I have experience with children from age one to early teens. I also have experience with cooking, meal prep and food safety, and with housekeeping and organization in the homes I've worked.
I'm part-way through my bachelors degree, but currently on a gap/work year so I have full-time availability.
