my name is Gabrielle. I am a university student at Concordia, and I'm studying sociology. I moved from Ottawa to Montreal less than a year ago, and I am loving the city, and I am in the process of improving my French skills. When I'm not in school, I usually spend my time outdoors or working on creative projects. I have a college diploma in early childhood education and I am looking for part-time babysitting jobs. I am able to work up to 30 hours a week after my courses end at the end of June. I have worked a variety of childcare jobs, and I love spending time with kids. I am responsible creative, and gentle, and I love doing activities outdoors. I have experience working with children with special needs, such as autism and ADHD, and my lived experience of having learning disabilities means that I can respond to challenging behaviours with empathy. I believe that children have much that they can teach adults, and I value open-ended, child-directed play as being essential to healthy child development.

During the summer of 2019, I worked as an educator assistant in a preschool program at Beacon Learning Centre in Ottawa, Ontario. I worked in a preschool classroom and assisted the early childhood educator with implementing curriculum, and I supervised large groups of children outside, inside the classroom, and during nap-time. In the fall, I worked at an after-school program at the Old Ottawa South Community Association. I hung out with kids from kindergarten to grade six, picked them up from the nearby school to the program site, and managed attendance. In 2020 and 2021, I did practicums at W.E. Gowling elementary school in the kindergarten classroom and at Kinderville daycare in the toddler program. After getting my diploma, I worked in the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board for a year as an early childhood educator and educational assistant with a variety of age groups and ability levels. In 2022, I went back to university to continue my education, after dealing with burnout. I still enjoy interacting with children, and so now I am looking to practice the skills I have developed with my work experience by finding babysitter jobs.

Supply Educational Assistant, Early Childhood Educator
I worked as a lunch time monitor and supplied as an early childhood educator and educational assistant at Churchill Alternative from 2021 to 2022. I worked with age groups ranging from kindergarten to grade 6. I facilitated and supervised small and large-group activities and provided one-on-one support to children with exceptionalities to support their participation in the classroom. I communicated with parents and with other educators to provide a supportive learning environment. I also supervised lunch, snack, and recess time, and provided support during routines and transitions.

Recommended by Alison B.
From the period of September 2021 to June 2022, I worked at Churchill Alternative , in the Ottawa Carleton District School Board, after I earned my ECE diploma. I was initially hired for the role of lunch monitor, where I supervised lunch and recess for children grades 1-6; but I also started substituting for educational assistants and early childhood educators. In January of 2022, I started university, but returned to Ottawa from April to June to work in the school board again, until I decided to permanently move to Montreal.
