Anika M.
My name is Anika, I am a 25-year-old university student majoring in Psychology, en route to pursuing a master’s in Clinical Counselling. I am a compassionate, positive, and dedicated person who has a huge love for children, a passion for nature, nutrition, and health, and a mega soft spot for animals. I bring warmth, energy, and creativity to every role I take on, and love to create fun, engaging, and adventurous experiences for the children I work with, whether it’s exploring nature outdoors or nurturing their creative sides with arts and crafts inside. I have multiple years of experience working with and caring for children of all ages, including caring for multiple children at once. I take pride in creating and providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that supports each child’s physical, emotional, and cognitive development. I value building strong, trusting relationships with families and believe in open, honest communication and teamwork to make the dream work. In addition to my nanny and childcare experience, I also work as a Ministry Support Worker, providing one-on-one support to children with high and complex behavioural needs and disabilities such as autism, ADHD, and FASD. This role has strengthened my patience, adaptability, and understanding of individualized care. I understand the importance of building trust, fostering open communication, and meeting people where they’re at, which helps children and families feel truly supported. I have experience assisting with daily routines including meal preparation, school drop-offs and pick-ups, extracurricular activities, and bedtime routines. I also help maintain clean and organized living environments, encourage children to develop independence and responsibility in caring for their own spaces, and am happy to assist with additional household tasks such as cleaning, dog walking, dog sitting, and housesitting when needed. I hold a valid driver’s license and have a new, reliable vehicle. I am trained in Emergency First Aid and CPR, and have previously completed Standard First Aid and CPR. As I am a university student, my schedule can vary from semester to semester, so some flexibility is needed for our arrangement to work. I am more than happy to collaborate to create a schedule that works well for everyone. Currently, I am available Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays during the day, and Thursday afternoons, and I am looking for a part-time position of approximately 2–3 days per week, up to around 24 hours. I’m looking for a wonderful, loving family to work and grow with, as my past nanny positions have been such positive, rewarding experiences, and I look forward to creating that again!
I’ve been working with children for many years, starting with babysitting at age 11. Over time my love for caring for kids has grown into a passion of being both a nanny and a B.C ministry support worker, where I provide one-on-one care and individualized support for children with complex developmental and behavioural needs. I’ve cared for children of all ages, from 9 months to 13+ years old, including managing multiple children at once. I have experience with before and after school care, homework support, extracurricular activities, and monitoring playdates. Working with children has been a huge part of my life from a young age, with a mom who ran a daycare and became a Montessori teacher to now my own version of child minding as my career progresses. My experience as a nanny has played a huge role in pursuing an education in psychology, with the ultimate goal of being able to better understand and support the individuals around me.
