My name is Brigitte, a 28 year-old psychology graduate, specifying in child development at Simon Fraser University. I am currently looking for a part-time nanny position around the Davisville Village area of Toronto.
I have a niche for working with kids, as I myself love most of the activities and interests they do. I grew up being raised by nannies, so I recognize the importance of having a patient, empathetic, creative, and positive person to take care of your children.
I have been in the field of childcare for many years now and absolutely adore it. I spend my free time doing art, observing nature, staying active, and trying to find humour wherever I can. I am conscientious of other’s emotions, empathetic, and proactive, so, looking after children has always come naturally. In Ontario, I would often look after a school-aged boy named Marshall who lived close by. I have endless fond memories of acting out pirate scenarios, helping with his homework, talking about superheroes, and discussing the importance of kindness. I am still very close with this family and always make time to visit when I go back.
During University, I began caring for twins for 10 hour days, three days per week. I found the job to be extremely fulfilling – my life purpose was to make Henry and Daisy’s childhood as good as it could possibly be. Each day consisted of dance parties, themed art projects, walks to the park, and reading at the library. After graduating, I continued working full-time until the children were old enough for school. I still babysit a few days per month and consider myself to be a part of their beautiful family.
I also have past work experience painting full-bedroom murals and freelance graphic design/illustration. I consider myself to be a highly creative person, which comes in handy when planning activities for a day of nannying. Scavenger hunts, alphabet bingo, endless craft ideas, puppet shows, obstacle courses – all of this is totally in my wheelhouse. In my spare time I am also a part-time vocalist - I adore teaching children to sing. In addition, I am a health conscious person who knows the benefits of stretching the body, staying active, and eating properly. This knowledge is crucial to share with children, as practicing it will positively impact their future well-being.
I am hoping to find a family who sees the benefit of silliness, being creative, and being open with their emotions. I believe that caregivers must set firm rules and expectations with children, but also be supportive, compassionate, loving, and patient. It would be helpful to be placed with a family who sees the importance of finding this balance. I am open to all housekeeping tasks; I find cleaning to be calming and truly love to help in any way that I can.
