Amanda H.
I'm a 32 year old career nanny who lives in Fort Langley, BC. My employment with a family I've worked with since 2016 is coming to an end as their daughter turns 15 in 2026. This means I'm currently looking for the next best position which will ideally be long-term, but I'm open and flexible in order to meet your family's needs. I would love to have the opportunity to work with you and will provide excellent references and skills in all areas of caregiving and housekeeping. Communication is of utmost importance to me, and I prove this by building a strong foundation of trust from day one. I'll make a great addition to your family by providing a nurturing, safe, and secure environment in your home while minding your young one[s] in accordance with your daily routine/schedule. I love the outdoors and engaging in fun activities while ensuring a balance with learning/school work. The needs of your family and your peace of mind are of the utmost importance to me. I hold an Associate of Arts degree and am working towards my bachelor's in applied psychology at Douglas College. I have a wonderful life partner, Brian, who I've been with for over 11 years. Together we have a 4-year-old aussie border collie named Kenobi who we love as our fur baby. I play the piano, guitar, sing and am a recreational dancer, as well as a writer, hobby photographer, artist, and poet! I live a health-oriented lifestyle by eating whole foods, and working out. I do have multiple "invisible" disabilities, but they don't impact my ability to provide consistent caregiving for families. Fun fact: I provided doula-like care for my cousin through 3 of her labor/deliveries of 2 surrogate babies and 1 of her own. The nurses and doctors thought I was a certified doula by the way I cared for her and provided support. I may take training to become a certified doula in the near future but this is mostly done online, and any in person sessions are planned well in advance and will be communicated. I require paid sick days and am open to negotiating how many. I have 10 in my current position. I also currently have a base pay for weeks where I'm needed for fewer hours than usual in order to keep a consistent liveable wage, unless unpaid time off is well communicated and agreed upon. This base pay is negotiable but is usually set for anything less than 25hrs/week to keep me on board. I am open to discuss this, especially if the position requires fewer hours. Since I have over a decade of experience, my minimum salary is $22.00/hour, and otherwise negotiable. I would hope for 2 weeks paid vacation at the rate/hours per week I work for you after 3 months of employment but this is not mandatory. I will add to this section when I think of more to share.
I've worked with children aged 0-14 for over a decade and love the work I do! I consider myself a career caregiver. I prepare meals, grocery shop, bathe and put to bed, as well as everything that comes in between, like helping with schoolwork, trips to the park, story time, and all things ART! I take great care in planning fun outings and always consider the passions of the kids I work with. I have my full license and a track record of safe driving. I can do drop offs and picks ups from school/activities as needed. I'm a very stable, dependable, and reliable caregiver who is extremely passionate in the expressive arts, especially music and dance, along with everything else you could possibly think of from puppets, to painting, to bilateral stimulation! I have experience working with multiple families and multiple children at once, and am trusted by numerous families as their caregiver/occasional sitter/driver, etc. Feel free to ask me anything. I'm looking forward to connecting with you!
