Evan K.
My name is Evan, and I'm a 46-year-old sports philosopher and ethicist currently working on my PhD. I'm looking for a meaningful opportunity to support your family over the next several years while I complete my doctoral studies. I bring a unique blend of professional insight and personal experience. My academic background provides me with a unique advantage in helping young people develop strong critical thinking skills. I also have a strong foundation in sport and physical fitness, which makes me great at planning engaging activities. I understand that some children thrive by being active, some prefer quieter, focused time, and many benefit from a blend of both! My current focus is solely on my doctoral studies over the next several years. While most of my time is dedicated to reading and writing, I also mentor university students remotely. I take a pastoral approach to guiding them as they develop—helping them navigate deadlines, study skills, and personal issues. While teenagers at university are self-sufficient, this experience has deepened my understanding of developing cognitive and emotional needs. When I do teach in person, I create a safe space for all to express themselves and feel welcome. I also use formal teaching methods to optimise learning. As I am single and focused on my studies, I have the stability and commitment to dedicate my time and energy to your family's needs.
Experienced Care: I've previously enjoyed caring for children, including a 7-9 year old boy and a 10-12 year old girl, focusing on fun weekend adventures and after-school activities. My background includes caring for a boy who had lost his mother, as well as helping to care for both a special needs older brother and a younger brother while growing up. A Solid Background: My educational foundation is in Psychology (including developmental psychology) and Philosophy—a perspective I find very helpful when connecting with young people. I also have professional experience teaching young students as a former Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructor. I’m Canadian firstly (from the London area) and I lived in England and Scotland for 10 years which means I’m international but also local. Reliable & Healthy: I maintain a fit and healthy lifestyle, have a clean driving record, and own a newer SUV with child-friendly seats. My SUV has AWD and proper winter tires and it’s loaded with safe driving tech. It’s also dog friendly, too, if your wee one needs social time at the park. I'm genuinely looking for work that allows me to connect with and help a family. As an aside, I have two wonderful Goldendoodles, so I understand the importance of nurturing emotional needs, whether they're canine or human! I'd love to chat and see if I might be a good fit for your family.
