Cassidy K.
I am currently a part time student at Wilfrid Laurier University in the Online Criminology and Poling program. Within this program, I am taught a lot about working with diverse communities, social work, and interpersonal communication. After completing this degree, I hope to get a degree in social work, and eventually work somewhere amongst vulnerable individuals who may require more support within the criminal justice system. I have a wide array of experience working with children and I thoroughly enjoy the experience. Prior to moving to Waterloo, I worked as an after school care provider and during the summer I worked as a summer day camp counsellor. I was successful in both of these positions. Additionally, I have experience with special needs children both through these jobs as well as through my own personal life. My program also is often educating me further on how to care for members of the community who require special needs, as well as members who come from a wide array of different backgrounds and home situations. Due to the nature of what I study, I am very aware of societal factors that can impact one's behaviour. As a result of this, I am more understanding of children that display unconventional behaviours and am patient rather than punitive.
