Mia C.
I’m a caring, responsible, and energetic individual who enjoys helping children learn, grow, and explore the world around them. My background includes active participation in Sea Cadets and marching band, which have taught me patience, teamwork, and leadership. I have a creative side, with hobbies like painting, crocheting, and the arts, and I love to share those activities with kids. I’m also passionate about the sciences—especially biology and chemistry—and enjoy finding fun ways to spark curiosity in young minds. In my free time, I love hiking, camping, and spending time outdoors, which I believe is a wonderful way for children to build confidence and imagination. I bring a balance of structure, creativity, and warmth to my work, making me dedicated to providing a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for the children in my care.
I have a strong background in childcare and youth support developed through a variety of roles in both structured and informal settings. As a camp counsellor at a nature and education centre, I supervised groups ranging from 5 to 30 children, leading outdoor learning and play activities while multitasking between supervision, cleaning duties, and activity setup to ensure a safe and inclusive environment. In my leadership role as a senior cadet, I staffed camps, weekend programs, and training activities for youth aged 12 to 16, often working with groups of 15 to 100 cadets. Many of the cadets I supervised were part of instructional classes I helped lead, where I provided support, structure, and mentorship. I’m trusted by younger cadets who regularly come to me for guidance, and I work easily and effectively with fellow senior cadets to provide the best possible care, instruction, and team environment. Similarly, as a senior in my school’s marching band, I serve as a mentor to junior band members, helping them develop skills, stay organized, and feel supported during practices and performances. I also have hands-on babysitting experience with two energetic young boys (my cousins) and children of family friends, providing attentive, engaging, and safe care. Additionally, I’ve supported elementary students through tutoring, helping them with reading, homework, and foundational subjects, as well as assisting younger classmates in school with academic support and study skills.
